What is the VeneFit™ Procedure?
The VeneFit™ procedure is a minimally-invasive medical procedure used to treat varicose veins. Performed under a local anesthetic with or without sedation, this procedure results in little to no scarring. Most insurance plans also cover the VeneFit™ procedure.
Why is the VeneFit™ Procedure Used?
The VeneFit™ procedure is a varicose vein medical procedure used for varicose vein removal. This procedure can also effectively treat chronic venous insufficiency (CVI) patients.
What Causes Varicose Veins?
Varicose veins are caused when there is increased blood pressure within the veins. Occurring in the veins near the surface of the skin, varicose veins occur when the blood inside the veins backs up, resulting in a bulging and twisted appearance. Blood can back up inside the veins more quickly if the veins are weakened or damaged. As we age, we are more likely to develop varicose veins. Family history of varicose veins and obesity are also known to increase one’s risk of developing varicose veins.
The Benefits of the VeneFit™ Procedure
The VeneFit™ procedure offers patients a wide range of benefits. Performed under local anesthesia, this minimally-invasive procedure is proven to result in less pain, less bruising, fewer complications, and quicker recovery than laser ablation treatment. The VeneFit™ procedure allows patients to return to regular activity and work significantly faster than if they undergo vein stripping, which can be painful. Because the VeneFit™ procedure applies uniform, consistent low-level heat to each segment, patients can reap the benefits of less bruising, as well as rapid relief and recovery.
VeneFit™ Procedure Aftercare
After undergoing the VeneFit™ procedure, you will be recommended to wear a gradient compression stocking for up to a week to help speed up recovery. While strenuous exercise should be avoided for several weeks after the VeneFit™ procedure, it is advised that one regularly take short, 15-minute walks after the procedure to promote circulation. Discomfort after the procedure is common and can be alleviated with over-the-counter, non-aspirin pain relievers. We recommend scheduling a post-procedure follow-up appointment for one week after the procedure. During this appointment, your surgeon will ensure that the veins have remained closed and check on your overall recovery status.
